socialmedia.gov

Digital Training Company's socialmedia.gov series is a bespoke in-house training programme specifically created for the public sector. It is designed to enable both communications professionals and policy officials to harness the power of social media to deliver on their objectives.

The programme will be led by Kate Cooper, formerly Head of Social Media for the Cabinet Office, now digital consultant within both the public and private sector.

The socialmedia.gov programme combines an introduction to social media with inspiring case studies, access to online social media tools and highly practical exercises to enable delegates to apply key learnings back in the office. 

The socialmedia.gov programme consists of four modules specifically tailored towards the current needs of government departments:

Module One

Introduction to Social Media

Suitable for those with little or no knowledge of digital and social media, this introductory module will frame social media in the context of the wider digital landscape. We will then explore the key social media concepts in depth including relevant case studies. The afternoon will be spent putting what we have learnt into practice through individual and group exercises. You will be given the opportunity to practice using a variety of social media planning and insight tools which can then be used when implementing social media plans back in the office. If relevant, there is also the opportunity for delegates to work on a live brief or active project.

Module Two

Social Media Masterclass for Government Communicators

Suitable for communications professionals who have attended our Introduction to Social Media or for those with a solid working knowledge of social media. This masterclass module will focus in on the role of Social Media in Government communications. We will explore key concepts, technology platforms and open source tools in greater depth. Delegates will have the opportunity to devise a social media communications plan using a bespoke strategic framework and explore methods for implementing their plan.

  • Keyword/audience identification
  • Listening and monitoring tools
  • Deriving actionable insight from a monitoring dashboard
  • The importance of a homebase/hub

  • Seeding messages

Module Three 

Social Media Masterclass for Press Officers

Suitable for press officers who have attended our Introduction to Social Media or for those with a solid working knowledge of social media. This masterclass module will focus in on the role of Social Media in the press office. We will explore key concepts, technology platforms and open source tools in greater depth. Action learning will include the opportunity to identify key influencers using social media monitoring tools and devise an online press release.

Social Media Masterclass for Policy Officials

Suitable for policy officials who have attended our Introduction to Social Media or for those with a solid working knowledge of social media, this masterclass module will focus in on the role of Social Media in the policy lifecycle. From consultation using online tools to audience engagement with new policy, we will explore the key concepts and technology platforms of most use to the policy official.
