Being Social is a global research project sponsored by Digital Training Company. It is being lead by Kate Cooper, formerly Head of Social Media for the UK Cabinet Office and is intended to explore the connection between building an internal social media strategy and social media success. What do we mean by internal social media strategy? Well it's the internal structure, culture, resources, capabilities, training, governance, processes and infrastructure required to make a comprehensive and holistic social media strategy a success from the inside out. It's the starting point for becoming a Social Business.

Chatter about social media is dominated by a focus on external manifestations - campaigns, communities, networks, content... Yet we believe that the strategic infrastructure provided by a comprehensive and fully integrated internal social media strategy, forms the bedrock of business success in harnessing the power of social media and social technologies to deliver on ambitious objectives.
